Unfortunately, because of the influence of modern medicine and lack of the right knowledge, most people are not aware of the authority and control that the mind has over the body. Whatever happens to the body we try to pop up some pills and fix it like that, while the mind is the real root of the majority of disease, and problems. Our thoughts control our life and our body, one who has positive thinking patterns and is optimistic, and feels good about him or herself is usually very healthy, let me explain the science behind this.
The whole system of the body is a chemical system, there are thousands of different chemicals in the body that determine the way you feel and state of your health, that is why we try to feed or inject other chemicals to affect the chemistry of the body, to treat disease. Every thought causes a certain chemical reaction In the body, some thoughts generate chemicals of health and there are thought who disturb the natural chemistry of the body and generate unhealthy chemicals, we all know that anger, anxiety, stress, etc., cause certain negative reactions in the body, it generates a high amount of cortisol, adrenaline, etc. I am not an expert in this area, and this is not medical writing so I can’t get into the science of it deeply but I suppose most of you already know this. You can literally poison your body with your thoughts.
You get angry, fearful, or generate any other negative emotion and your body feels not good, why?
Because your thoughts and emotions generated an unhealthy state of chemistry in the body, on the other hand, you may fall in love, help somebody, having kindness, forgiveness, optimism, etc. and you know that it’s generating healthy chemistry in the body. Now, the majority of diseases are just a prolonged state of generating unhealthy chemistry in the body using the thoughts. This of course usually won’t happen by you becoming angry just for one time, although that can also happen if the emotions are strong enough, it usually happens by repeating certain thoughts and reactions over and over again.
One time in my past I got really angry about something and I felt so much stomach acid and acidity were formed in my body that it was like drinking acid, I was almost passing out from weakness, this for me is an extreme example of how thoughts and emotions can affect the body, but it’s not always like that and doesn’t have to be extreme. Even the small thoughts affect the body.
Every single negative thought has an instant effect on the body, not only it makes your experience of life ruined and makes you feel bad, but over time it also ruins your health. Now, let’s say we inject one new chemical every day for every single thing you mess up with your body by your thoughts, even if this was possible, it wouldn’t work, and the reason is that body has a limit for taking external chemicals, and also mind has much more power over external chemicals, in the sense that let’s say you give someone something to reduce their anxiety, but if they are too messed up, like a professional anxiety generator, the mind can generate a much stronger amount of anxiety chemistry and make those chemicals injected ineffective, to make you understand this better, imagine drinking coffee or maybe using some other drugs which makes you feel great, you’ll see that with more repetitions of consumption of the substance, you get less strong effects from it and you need more and more of it to experience the same effect.
Let’s say you are not a regular coffee drinker, and you haven’t had coffee for a month, and today you had a headache or were feeling bad, and you had a good coffee and you may experience an amazing shift in the way that you feel and your pain level, you can even cure your headache completely. but this won’t be as effective if you decided to use it regularly, why? Because your body can’t release the same type of initial effect over and over again.
According to neuroscience, your brain will start to reduce the receptors related to those chemicals to protect itself from too much of it, so if you use for example coffee regularly after a while not only you don’t experience the same high and good feeling, but you only take it to not feel bad, same is true for smokers, first it feels awesome then you just do it to not feel bad, we are not talking about addictions here but I wanted to explain that there are limits and side effect of what you can externally do to your body with drugs to control it, besides, your mind always wins the battle, because your mind can control every single organ in your body, at least in some ancient practices such as Yoga they believe such a thing.
They say if you find enough mastery over your mind and body, you can generate a high level of ecstasy and feel great all the time, Isn’t this freedom and happiness?
Imagine you could always feel the way you like! Would you generate a feeling of joy, happiness, peace, or a feeling of despair, anger, hopelessness? You know the answer!
In the same way, if you realize that your health is majorly an outcome of your thoughts, would you try to learn to control the way that you think and you feel?
Again, imagine you could be both healthy and happy by controlling your thoughts! Wouldn’t you want to learn to control your thoughts?
I think everybody would say of course Yes!
But when it comes to learning and practice for achieving this, most people will not do it and find excuses to not do it, why? It takes practice, and popping up a pill and drinking is easier, I guess that’s why the majority of the world is miserable!
