My music

I don’t really see myself as a professional-academic musician, nor do I possess deep academic knowledge of music. But connected to many spiritual traditions coming from ancient Persia and Sufism, I was fortunate enough to find the musical tradition of Tanbour, coming from the ancient Sufi tradition of this land, and use it as a means of spiritual progress and healing. Along with Indian classical music, I see this music as one of the richest spiritual music traditions on earth, and it has inspired and healed me a lot.

The whole universe is vibration according to physics, and according to all religions, and sicence the universe was created by sound. So music, when played right, is a means for uplifting myself and others. And the highest goal of music is to raise your vibration, which means connecting you to the vibration of the source, which you may call God, although this word is very misused and misunderstood.

Improvisation is the highest goal of all arts, the state when your mind is mostly empty and the inspiration just flows into you, so most of the time, I just improvise, meaning that I let my soul come in and play. For me, it’s always an uplifting experience that raises my vibration.

Tanbour, being a sacred instrument with a rich spiritual history, especially adds to this experience. I started my journey by learning Setar, a well-known instrument in Persian classical music, and then I found Tanbour and started playing it. It deeply touched me and helped me become even more connected to the source vibration. For years, I didn’t even think people liked my music much, but again and again, people told me that this music deeply touches them and gives them a kind of meditative and transcendental experience. So I became inspired to share more of my music, and I am offering some of it to you here.
